Use Hairpieces and Wigs To Get The New Look

Hairpieces and wigs have been used throughout history to change or enhance the look of the wearer.

Starting with the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans wigs have played an important role in distinguishing nobility from the commoners of that era.

Both males, and females wore wigs in Egypt but different grades of material were used to make the wigs depending on their social or political status. Beads were also used to make accessories which were then added to the wigs. They were decorated according to social rank with the most elaborate ornaments being used on the wigs of the wealthy.

Human hair was used to make wigs, and hairpieces for those with high social statues while sheep's wool or vegetable fibers were used to make wigs for those on a lower social level.

The Romans used the hair of their slaves to make wigs for the wealthy women who wore hair pieces to give the illusion of large volumes of hair.

A male historical figure known to wear wigs is Louis Xlll who became ruler of France at age nine in 1610 when his father was assassinated. This powerful French ruler went prematurely bald and wore wigs to hide this fact. The "Periwig" a long curly wig which was worn by Louis XIII is still very much a part of Royal functions to this day.

Wigs are deeply engraved into history because profession, wealth, social, and political standing have all been determined by wigs, and hairpieces for centuries. They have even been worn on battlefields to distinguish high ranking officers, and also scare off the opposing forces.

Wigs were used not only to make a fashion, social or political statement, they were also seen as protective head wear and protected the wearer from the heat in Egypt, also the cold in France. Although wigs were very popular in Africa, Europe, and other parts of the world they were mainly worn by Geishas or theatrical actors in Asia and didn't gain as much popularity there.

Another famous Royal who wore wigs is Queen Elizabeth I of England who ruled from 1558 until she died in 1603. Elizabeth, the legendary "Virgin Queen" after having her own hair cut off wore elaborate hairpieces she had made during her powerful reign.

Although she faced many challenges during her time as Queen of England, Elizabeth 1 maintained her femininity, and enhanced her appearance with hairpieces as seen below in the compilation of scenes from the film Elizabeth about her reign.

Wigs for women remained in fashion but on a much lower scale as they became less important to social status over time, and their styles changed.

Men also eventually stopped wearing wigs as part of their attire unless it was for certain professions but continue to wear toupees more than they would probably care to admit.

Hairpieces and Wigs Worn By Celebrities

Celebrity Lace Wigs

Many famous celebrities wear hairpieces and wigs to create the illusion they want during a performance, or in their music videos.

Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Katy Perry all wear wigs and aren't afraid to let the world know that they enhance their looks with volumes of hair in different colors, lengths, and styles.

As a matter of fact these super stars are all being imitated by countless women around the world who are wearing the exact replicas of the wigs and hair pieces that these celebrities have worn in their music videos, during performances or in public.

They have all started fashion trends in the 21st Century that influence both young, and older women.

Beyonce's ever changing luscious locks has inspired several lines, and styles of lace front wigs. Known for her outstanding sense of style, beside being a mega recording artist, Beyonce is influencing an entire generation of women to buy lacefront wigs from their favorite wig maker so that they can wear their hair exactly the way she does.

Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga are also being exemplified around the world by women who aim to recreate their flamboyant hairstyles with wigs and hairpieces in order to get the new look the stars emerge wearing.

Cheap Wigs and Hair Pieces

The great thing about wearing wigs and hair pieces in the 21st century is the freedom to choose the texture, style, and length of the wigs you want to wear. Cheap wigs and hairpieces are available in abundance to help women feel great about the way they look and feel.

Gone are the stifling days where human hair wigs were reserved for the upper class. Women are now free to choose the quality of wig they wish to wear and can live out their hair fantasies on even a limited budget.

Wigs have been a part of my life for all of my life because my grand-mother, mother, aunts, and just about every woman in my circle have all worn wigs or hairpieces at some point. I can honestly say that I would be lost without my extensive collection, and I treasure them as much as the wonderful moments they are a part of in my life.

Whether I'm in the mood for short, and sassy or long luxurious hair my wigs are always close at hand to help me create the look I want on any given day.

I've worn wigs from the Beverly Johnson, and the Raquel Welch collection of wigs with great enjoyment. Long wigs, short wigs, curly wigs, costume wigs, straight wigs, wavy wigs, blonde wigs, brown wigs, highlighted wigs, human hair wigs, and synthetic wigs all live happily together in my personal collection.

However, my all time favorite wig is the lacefront human hair wig because it's the best fitting wig I've ever worn, and I love the way it gives the look of a natural hairline without any bulk, lump, or excessive weight.

Wearing wigs might not be appealing to everyone but it's an excellent way to change your hairstyle, and get the new look you're after without having to cut, dye, or pay an excessive amount of money to live out your hair fantasies.

Would I recommend wearing wigs and hair pieces to anyone? Absolutely without a doubt because I feel great wearing my wigs, and they never fail in making me feel like a million bucks.
