Starting your own business is a very big decision that requires your commitment, time, and patience. Before investing your money into any business idea there are several steps that will make the difference between failure, and success that you need to be fully aware of.
It's very easy to get swept away by excitement when you believe in your business idea, and want to jump right in. However It's a good idea to know the tried, and trusted methods that have helped successful business owners to get the positive results they see in their business. if you're serious about being a successful entrepreneur, it's imperative that you educate yourself about your niche first.
- Research - The first step to business success is doing your research. Once you've made a decision about the niche your would like to cater to, create a list of at least 10 - 20 questions about that niche specifically, and what it has to offer. Include questions that will encourage discussion about your product or service. Become the consumer, look at it from that perspective to build a business strategy model.
Start surveying people you know, random people you meet like your cab driver, and department store associates. Interview people in your community, colleagues, your social network contacts, and keep track of their answers. Make notes of any suggestions that are made, and listen for any areas that come up as lacking in your niche. Gather as much feedback as you can from at least 50 to 100 people.
- Analyze - Once your information is collected, go through it and look for the points that appear more frequently than others. What this will reveal is the area that is not being properly serviced in your niche, as well as those that are already saturated. You will also discover what your business can offer to successfully compete with established brands.
Another major point is looking at the current economic conditions to see how it can affect your business in the long term. Will your business survive a recession? a union strike? or as a home business? What are the social, and cultural factors that influence your business?

The thought makes us happy, and we know that it's a place to be entertained.
